"I’m just an alien trying to understand what it means to be human"

Many of us look back over the years and wonder, what did I really achieve?

That was me after working with big name brands, agencies and corporations for 15 years in marketing and advertising.

When you know people will buy stuff anyway and businesses like to tick corporate responsibility boxes…

I asked myself "isn’t there a way to do cool sh*t that will do some good in the world? Isn't that what we all want in a place we work?"

That's what I've achieved with 'Place of the Way'. Doing things I'm really proud of that make an impact, are expressive, make me and others happy.

Making the impossible happen, by knocking down fears, visualising hopes and materialising dreams.

That to me is marketing activism

and a Place of the Way.

My values are my expertise.

Before the pandemic made businesses need to reconsider the importance and 'commercial return' of mental health, DEI and sustainability, I was doing it professionally and personally.

I have collaborated successfully with over 100 different people and businesses across industries since starting Place of the Way. Every one of them very different, with their own hopes, dreams and fears that I have brought to life and activated to make a lasting impact and grow advocacy.

You only need to look at the projects I've done and who with, to see that I am uniquely experienced and wear my values on my sleeve.

What I share as an alien activist in marketing Humanity:

  • An expert in through-the-line marketing & advertising for 18 years, I build brands, products and businesses from the foundation, defining impact with values in DEI, Mental Health Awareness and Sustainability.
  • Strategic thinking to ideation, copywriting and activation, I'm a 4-Dimensional multitasking. marketing entity for your business.
  • I have one of the most varied contact books with many I call 'friend' across industries, to gain unique insights, expertise and collaborations from the very best skillsets.
  • I was conceived in Hospitality; I've worked front and back of house in my younger days, international events, to corporate FMCG environments. It offers me a unique perspective to any industry, whether you're a big corporation or independent business that needs direction and a different way of thinking to gain results.
  • I'm an activist, adapting like aliens do. People know I care and get sh*t done, to the point that I've known some to joke about how I materialise ideas that are seemingly impossible. Check out 'The Projects' to see what I mean.

Awards are great if they give us the recognition to help do some good in the world.

I've been nominated and won some really cool awards that maybe reflect a little of what I've done for people & planet, however the projects I do are my real rewards, with some hefty achievements I know did some good and frankly were awesome fun. Here are a few:

  • I've raised approx £50k towards good causes and support services, through grants, donations and proceeds.
  • Managed over 1,000 corporate volunteer hours with businesses like Lucky Saint, Penguin, Just Eat, Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, Danone, Hawksmoor, etc to help transform a low income community with marketing expertise and people power, that will inspire others.
  • Ideated, managed, sold in and sold out nationwide 'Please & Thank You' beer, raising approx £8k in 1-2-1 Hospitality therapy sessions AND it was Dishoom's fastest ever selling guest beer. The beer and additional drinks NPD have highlighted to brands that raising mental health awareness and supporting the trade with a consumer facing alcoholic product CAN generate sales and advocacy, for them to do the same.

SOMETIMES UNDERDOGS WIN.

At BrewLDN Beer & Cider Marketing Awards there were big name brands, cool craft beers… and me with PLEASE & THANK YOU rice lager to raise awareness of staff treatment and proceeds towards 121 Hospitality therapy.

WRESTLING DEMONS TOGETHER.

A special mention from the IMBIBE judges, as the only entrant that wasn't a stand alone bar... but instead brought 7 bars together during the pandemic to raise mental health awareness with 'Wrestling Demons'.

NOMINATION OUT OF NOWHERE.

A HRC nomination for raising mental health awareness and bringing 21 top chefs, bartenders & artists together to express themselves and bring people together in a unique experience with 'Wrestling Demons'.
